Wisdom III is a unique work that is one of a series of sculptures of middle-aged men from around the world. The title explores the question of "when do we become old enough to be considered wise?" The work is sculpted in clay that is fired and treated with a copper paint and a bronzing patina and a sealing coat. It is mounted on a black, steel plinth secured in place with cement. The sculpture was created in 2021 and the finishing and mounting was done in 2024. Mike Timms is a sculptor on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria working in clay and focusing on figurative sculpture to comment on life and its meaning.
